Makeup Magic: Colors That Make Your Teeth Look Whiter

Teeth whitening is basically magic. It can remove decades of staining in as little as an hour with a single in-office treatment. So, you can say goodbye to stubborn yellow stains and hello to glistening pearly whites. However, there is still the matter of how best to show off your results. For example, which colors of makeup should you use?

Read on to learn which makeup colors will brighten your smile and which to avoid if you want to really dazzle your friends and co-workers.

Brighten with Blues

Lipstick shades with cool undertones, such as berry hues, and deep plum shades, can help create the illusion of whiter teeth. These colors counteract any yellow shades in your teeth, making them appear brighter and whiter by comparison. In contrast, avoid warm-toned lipsticks, like oranges and corals, as they can accentuate yellow tooth stains.

Make it Natural

If you prefer to have a more natural look with your makeup, nude or neutral lip colors can also complement a whiter smile. These provide a subtle contrast against your teeth. Colors like taupe, caramel, or soft brown can enhance the natural brightness of your teeth without drawing too much attention.

A Pop of Lip Gloss

To really accentuate the brightness of your smile, even with more natural colors, you can experiment with lip gloss. It’s best to find one that provides a bit of silver sparkle. Remember that cool tones are where it’s at. Steer clear of gold shimmer that will cast a yellow light on your teeth.

Draw Attention to Your Eyes

If you’d rather draw a bit of attention away from your smile, complementary eye makeup can do just that. Again, you’ll want to stay dark and blue to make your teeth pop. Finish your look with a coat of mascara to define your lashes and frame your eyes.

The key to discovering your next great look is experimentation! Don’t be afraid to be bold and try different shades and colors to see what works best for you. After all, no one has the same skin or facial features. Remember, the absolute best way to make your smile look brighter is to brush twice a day to keep it clean. Everything else is just an accessory!
